ABOUT BENDICIA
Bendicia is from Puerto Rico.
That isn't a marketing line. It's where the name
comes from, and the name is the whole idea.
Here, a grandchild walks through the door and says
bendición. The grandmother answers. Nobody decides
to do it — it's four syllables worn smooth by a
hundred thousand repetitions, said at the door, in
the kitchen, on the phone before hanging up.
It means: I'm here, and I'm yours.
My grandmother didn't say much past that. It wasn't
coldness — it was how her generation did it. You
showed up. You fed people. You didn't announce what
any of it meant.
I started Bendicia because I think most people are
carrying one sentence they never said to somebody.
Usually to someone much older or much younger than
them. Usually because the right moment never quite
arrived, and now it feels too big to start.
A necklace doesn't fix that. But a card will say
it, and she'll be holding it when she reads it, and
you won't have had to get the words out yourself.
That's the whole business. There isn't more to it.
Bendicia is run by Matos Distribution LLC in San
Juan, Puerto Rico. Pieces are printed and shipped
from the United States. If you email us, you get me.
